Earrings

I don’t have my ears pierced. My mom is superstitious about it and I guess I never really cared. Now that I’m paying a lot more attention to fashion, trends and stylish looks, the thought of getting my ears pierced is a recurring one. In fact, I’ve been thinking about it for about a year now, and even my mom has let the superstition thing slide (she does, after all, have hers pierced too). So why the long period of thought? I guess I wanted to make sure I wasn’t making an impulsive move. I tend to change my mind about things, some sooner than later, so I wanted to be sure this wasn’t some phase I was going through. Now that it’s been on my mind for a year I can say with some certainty that I’m pretty sure I want to get this done.

So now I’m trying to figure out where to go and reading up on the things I should know. Ear piercing is pretty standard. Even toddlers have them done. But no, my paranoid 20-something self wants to know the cleanest, safest and best way to get my lobes pierced. Most people go to Claire’s, Piercing Pagoda or some other place in the mall, but I think I’m too neurotic to go to any of those places. So I guess the next option is a tattoo studio. I’m also wary of piercing guns, so it’d have to be a place that uses needles, and I’m pretty sure a tattoo studio has plenty of those.

I’m about 95% sure I’m going to have this done and about 100% sure I’m going to go crazy shopping for earrings afterward. Even though I can’t change out the original studs for about 6 weeks, I don’t see why I can’t be prepared for when I can switch them. I’ve already been browsing online and have found a few that I think look just lovely.
