Happy Halloween!

It’s that time of year again. The leaves change color, the weather gets crisp, coats emerge from the closet. But it’s also that time of year when candy is available by the the bucketful, fake blood is encouraged and every day uniforms/outfits turn super sexy. Yes, it’s Halloween.

I don’t really know the origin of this “holiday”, nor do I understand its popularity. I guess it’s just another day in the year where we can just go out and have a gay ol’ time. I think I’d be more enthusiastic about Halloween if it were a federal holiday.

It’s been years since I last dressed up but I remember loving it when I was younger. I had all kinds of silly costumes as a kid. I remember one year my older sister had oodles of fun doing the face paint for my clown costume. I don’t know why I had agreed to be a clown; those things scare the bejesus out of me. I’ve been Franken-pig (I think that was my mom’s idea), a bum, Cleopatra, Chung Li, a Charlie’s Angel, a go-go dancer, a present, a schoolgirl, an evil surgeon, and a ladybug. There probably should be more costumes listed but I guess I was never really into dressing up for Halloween. I think I liked the candy more.

These days, instead of dressing up I opt for scary movie marathons. Whether it’s a good old fashioned slasher flick with buckets of blood and gore, some psychological thriller that gives me goosebumps, a zombie/monster/evil virus movie or some eerie Japanese horror movie that no doubt involves creepy kids, I love them all. Since I’ve already seen so many, I’ll be hard pressed to find scary movie rentals I haven’t yet seen to really count as a marathon. If you have scary movie suggestions, pass them along!
