Nordstrom + Sale = AWESOME

It’s simple math. You take your favorite store, apply tons of markdowns and you have the shop-a-palooza of the year.

I grew up in Seattle, which is to say I grew up at Nordstrom. Every so often my mother would drive us to one of their stores and we’d marvel at all the pretty things. I’d watch my mom try on lipsticks and shoes, and I would sniff all the perfumes and try out all the different hats. It was like playing dress up in the ultimate of closets. And when the huge flagship opened downtown, it pretty much became my personal shopping mecca. The place was gorgeous, especially during the holidays, and the service was spectacular as always.

I think that’s why Nordstrom has a special place in my heart. It’s not just the gobs of beautiful merchandise, it’s the service as well. It really is unparalleled and the people are genuinely nice and helpful. Even as I moved from state to state and shopped at different locations, the experience was still the same. And now that they’re having their Half-Yearly Sale, I know I can expect that same quality of service and selection of merchandise. So this weekend, I guess I’ll be marveling at some pretty things and maybe try on a few hats. And, of course, the markdowns don’t hurt either.
