Permanent Makeup

I have a case of thin brows. It’s a result of both genetics and over-plucking so I’m really only half to blame. Having graduated to my late 20s and having since gotten whatever fashion craze that caused the original over-plucking, I’ve now been encouraging my brows to grow back in. They weren’t line-thin to begin with, but I’m hoping for a fuller looking brow.

It’s been a few months now since I started my brow-growing endeavor but I’m starting to think that what I now have is all that I’ll ever get. I’ve thought about using that eyelash stuff on my brows, but that hasn’t been approved for that use, and using Rogaine may be an option, but that might just be silly. And then one day, a light bulb went on in my head.

What about getting permanent makeup done on my eyebrows?

Permanent makeup is essentially a tattoo where pigment is inserted under the skin. It’s different than the usual tattoo ink as this is specifically for cosmetic purposes, but the stuff is permanent.

The idea of having it done is appealing because:

1) I won’t have to fill in my brows every day

2) They won’t get wiped off when I try on clothes, take a shower or go for a swim

3) I won’t have to fill in my brows EVERY. DAY.

The one thing that makes me hesitant is the fact that it’s permanent, meaning if the person doing the makeup isn’t very good, you’re stuck with funky looking brows. I feel fairly confident that if I get a classic looking brow that’s not too long or too short, not to curved or too arched, that I’ll be good.

I’ve already found someone who can do it for a discounted, “friend-referral” price. So now I just have to decide whether or not to take the plunge.
