The Art of Racing in the Rain
Last year, I read this book. I don’t remember how I came upon this title, but I do remember loving every word that was written.
I work in fashion, I blog about clothes, I have an (unhealthy) obsession with shoes and I like trying new beauty products, so I understand it might be surprising to some that I loved a book narrated by a dog. But here’s something you may not know about me: I’m a dog person. I have a dog and love her to pieces, so naturally, this story about a dog’s view of his master’s world was hard to pass up.
I was surprised how much I ended up loving this book. It’s a story filled with many layers, both emotional and humorous, and it’s such a heartfelt and poignant story that you can’t help but laugh and cry along with the characters. The novel is beautifully written and easily one of my favorites. It’s on the New York Times Bestseller List for a reason right? Well, to really give you an idea of how great this book is, it’s being made into a movie. I just found out and I’m excited. I really hope they don’t butcher the film but I have a sinking feeling it will happen. People always say the book was better than the movie right? I can only hope that this is the exception to the rule. Patrick Dempsey will be playing the main lead, a perfect casting in my opinion. Looking forward to see it but it’ll be a long wait: the movie is scheduled for release in 2012.
